Dear Parents and Guardians:

Welcome to #PandaNation 2022-2023 school year! As the strings teacher at Vineville Academy of the Arts, I am excited to offer Grades 3rd-5th the chance to play violin, viola, or cello.

Grades 3rd-5th Grade Strings Instruction is offered as follows:

Grades 3rd-5th grade strings classes meet twice weekly during the school day.  Students may play violin, viola, or cello.  Returning students who wish to switch instruments can only do so with approval of the teacher. .Students must remember to bring their instrument on their class day. Music will be provided for home practice, and practice resources will be available on Canvas.  Students must practice at least three times during the week at home.  Parents are expected to connect to Ms. Baser via Remind once the code is available. Parent are expected to assist students at home. More advanced students will be invited to participate in the Panda Philharmonic. The Panda Philharmonic prepares challenging music and participates in additional performances such as GMEA District 11 Honor Orchestra and LGPE.  Performance attire is all black for the Panda Philharmonic.  Additional information will be sent home once members are selected.

Please note: You cannot play a string instrument correctly with long nails; therefore, students CANNOT wear artificial nails or have nails that extend beyond the fingertips.  Students must adhere to this rule in order to remain a member of the Panda Strings Program. I would also request students do not wear perfume, cologne or scented lotions, as some individuals have asthma. Thank you!

School instruments are available at no charge.  Parents fill out an instrument loan form and are responsible for repair/replacement costs should damage occur.
